SAINT JOSEPHINE BAKHITA AT THE PORTUGUESE SETTLEMENT IN MALACCA

St. Josephine Bakhita was born in 1869 in Sudan, Africa.
At the age 12 she was kidnapped by Arab slave traders.
For 8 years she was treated like a slave and suffered greatly under her Arabs masters.
In 1888 she sold to an Italian family.
In 1890 she was baptized in the Catholic Church.
In 1896 joined as a Nun in a town called Schio in Italy.
For 50 years she helped the sick people in Schio.
Sister Josephine Bakhita died on 08 February 1947.
Her last words were Our Lady! Our Lady!
She became a Saint on 01 October 2000.
Everyone in Schio still calls her “our Black Mother”.
Saint Josephine Bakhita is now the Patron Saint of Sudan, Africa.
